The Peters Township Marching Band season is in full swing! The marching band includes instrumentalists in grades 8-12 and color guard in grades 9-12. The marching band performs at all home and away football games, local parades, and several band festivals in the Pittsburgh area. Recently the Marching Band has also marched in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC, and parades at Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida. This December, we are traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, to march in the Peach Bowl parade!
We invite all 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade instrumentalists and potential members of the Color Guard, to participate in Middle School Band Night on Friday, October 14th, at the varsity football game vs. Mt. Lebanon! Middle School students do not have to be enrolled in the band in Middle School to participate in Middle School Band Night; musicians from Orchestra have also participated in marching band as members of the percussion or front ensemble sections.

Middle School Band Night participants are asked to attend practice on Tuesday, October 11th, and Thursday, October 13th, from 5:30-6:30 pm at PTHS to learn some marching basics and the PT fight song. Marching band student leaders will meet middle school students by the band trailer in the parking lot, escort them to the practice field, and then back to the parking lot for pickup. If you cannot attend both practices due to a scheduling conflict, you can attend one practice and still participate (please note this when you register). We are aware there is a conflict with the Middle School Open House on 10/13, the directors understand if you cannot attend or need to leave early.
On Friday, October 14th, participants will report to the Middle School Band Room at 5:30 pm and check in with Mr. MacKay. They should wear black pants, a red shirt (or sweatshirt), and comfortable shoes. The students will then march to the football stadium with the band at approximately 6:20 pm and participate in pregame at 6:45 pm (kickoff is at 7:00 pm). Band Night participants are invited to sit with the marching band for the remainder of the game and watch the halftime show from the sidelines.
Halftime typically ends around 8:15 pm, and participants may continue to sit with the band for the remainder of the game or be picked up after halftime by a parent/guardian. All middle school students must be checked out by Mr. MacKay before leaving for safety and accountability. If parents attend the game, you may pick up your student at the far end of the field where the band sits (there is a gate near the home side concession). If parents are not attending the game, then they should pick up students back at the middle school band room after the game at approximately 9:15 pm (be sure to account for traffic in your travel time as the first few games this year have been very well attended). Parents, guardians, and guests will need to purchase a ticket to the game, but Band Night participants do not need a ticket.
Please register for Middle School Band Night via the link above, by October 6th.
