Band Festival Chaperone Responsibilities

  • Chaperones should report to the High School with your Band student at the report time indicated by the Band Director.
  • Chaperones are assigned to each bus by the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • The Band Director will provide more specific responsibilities by email prior to the event for each chaperone.  
  • Chaperones will assist students, Band Staff, and Volunteer Coordinator before, during, and after the game as needed.   
  • When the Marching Band is 5 minutes from the High School, chaperones will ask students to collect their belongings, clean up trash, and close bus windows.
  • Upon arriving back from the high school, chaperones are asked to please check the aisles and under the seats of the bus for trash and personal belongings, and make sure the windows are up.
  • If there are any lost and found items. chaperones should bring them to the Band Staff. 

Below are a brief description of the following chaperone roles and their responsibilities for events of the Peters Township Marching Band. 

General Chaperone - duties include supervising the band while they move to and from the Football Stadium, supervising restroom breaks, passing out any candy grams after the festival to students, collecting garbage, carrying and being in charge of chaperone bag and using supplies as needed etc.

Equipment Set Up - duties include unloading and loading equipment, moving podiums to the field, assisting with any of the physical needs of transporting materials of the Marching Band. (must be able and willing to lift or carry 30-50 lbs.). Equipment set up chaperones may assist with general chaperone duties as needed. 

Color Guard Set Up - duties include assisting color guard in transporting and setting up equipment and props needed for the performance. Color Guard Chaperones will be asked to transport equipment back to the trailer after the performance. Color Guard chaperones may assist with general chaperone duties as needed. Other duties may be assigned by the Color Guard instructor.

Because many volunteers are needed at our home band festival, we are only going to use 3 chaperones for our band that evening. Volunteer chaperones need to be able to assist with equipment and/or color guard set up as well as general chaperone duties.
