Home Game Chaperone Information

  • All chaperones should arrive promptly at the Middle School with your band member at the report time determined by the Band Director.
  • The Band Director will provide more specific responsibilities by email prior to the event for each chaperone.
  • All chaperones will assist students, Band Staff, and Volunteer Coordinator before, during, and after the game as needed.

Below are a brief description of the following chaperone roles and their responsibilities for events of the Peters Township Marching Band.

General Chaperone - duties include supervising the band while they move to and from the Football Stadium, assisting with crowd control, supervising restroom breaks, passing out snacks and water after half time, collecting garbage, carrying and being in charge of chaperone bag and using supplies as needed etc.

Equipment Set Up - duties include unloading and loading equipment, moving podiums to the field, transporting the water for the Away Marching Band to their stands, assisting with any of the physical needs of transporting materials of the Marching Band. (must be able and willing to lift or carry 30-50 lbs.). Equipment set up chaperones may assist with general chaperone duties as needed.

Color Guard Set Up - duties include assisting color guard in transporting and setting up equipment and props needed for the performance. Color Guard Chaperones will be asked to transport equipment back to the trailer during the 3rd quarter. Color Guard chaperones may assist with general chaperone duties as needed. Other duties may be assigned by the Color Guard instructor.

New Parent Chaperone - Beginning this season, we will be adding one additional chaperone slot for every Marching Band event. This position will be reserved for an 8th grade parent or a first-year high school parent of a current band member.  The goal of this opportunity is to give newer parents a chance to experience the behind-the-scenes work that makes each Marching Band event run smoothly.  This position is only for 8th grade parents or first-year high school parents. If no one from these groups signs up, the position will remain unfilled rather than being opened to other parents.
