The Peters Township Marching Band season is in full swing! The marching band includes instrumentalists in grades 8-12 and color guard in grades 9-12 and performs at all home and away football games, local parades, and several band festivals in the Pittsburgh area. Last season, we traveled to the Peach Bowl Parade in Atlanta, GA, and this February, we will be featured in the parade at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World!

We invite all 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade instrumentalists and potential members of the Color Guard, to participate in Middle School Band Night on Friday, October 20th, at the varsity football game vs. Canon McMillan! Middle School students do not have to be enrolled in the band in Middle School to participate; musicians from the Choir and Orchestra have also participated in marching band as members of the percussion or front ensemble sections.

Middle School Band Night participants are asked to attend practice on Tuesday, October 17th, and Thursday, October 19th, from 3:15 – 4:00 pm at PTHS to learn some marching basics and the PT fight song. They may take the bus from the MS to the HS with the current 8th-grade marching band members. Marching band student leaders will meet the students when the bus arrives, escort them to the practice field, and then back to the parking lot for parent pickup. If you have a conflict with rehearsals, you can still participate! Just reach out to our director Mr. Young (Youngd@pt-sd.org), so he is aware (and note the conflict when you register).

On Friday, October 20th, participants will report to the Middle School Band Room at 5:30 p.m. and check in with Mr. Young. They should wear black pants, a red shirt (or sweatshirt), and comfortable shoes. The students will then march to the football stadium with the band at approximately 6:20 p.m. and participate in pregame at 6:45 p.m. (kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.). Band Night participants are invited to sit with the marching band for the remainder of the game and watch the halftime show from the sidelines.

Halftime typically ends around 8:15 p.m., and participants may continue to sit with the band for the remainder of the game or be picked up after halftime by a parent/guardian. Mr. Young or a chaperone must check out all middle school students before leaving for safety and accountability. If parents attend the game, you may pick up your student at the far end of the field where the band sits (there is a gate near the home side concession). If parents are not attending the game, they should pick up students back at the middle school band room after the game at approximately 9:15 pm (be sure to account for traffic in your travel time as the first few games this year have been very well attended). Parents, guardians, and guests must purchase a game ticket, but Band Night participants do not need a ticket.

Please register for Middle School Band Night via the link above by October 16th.
